Communications
There are various avenues for communication between parents and classroom teachers, both formal and informal. Regularly scheduled conferences allow for an exchange of information and suggestions, while individually scheduled appointments allow for a more comprehensive discussion on specific topics. Individual teachers will have a preferred method of communication and will certainly inform parents how to most effectively communicate through the course of the school year.
Conferences are scheduled in November or December of each school year, in accordance with a town-wide conference schedule. This is timed to coincide with the first report card of the school year, which allows both the parent(s) and teacher to review together progress to date and any issues in the classroom.
Parents should address issues and concerns regarding student progress and classroom work with the classroom teacher first, where they are most likely to be resolved. If an issue cannot be resolved or if additional or more serious concerns develop, the principal should then be informed.
