Brackett Elementary School, named after a Massachusetts governor and Arlington resident John Q. A. Brackett, opened its doors in 1931. Rebuilt from the ground up in 1998 and reopened in 1999, Brackett School has long been characterized by a strong sense of community with active involvement and cooperation between parents and teachers. “Respect, Responsibility and Love of Learning” are our school’s core values and our mascot, a cricket named “Hoppington,” extols the virtues of fair play and honorable conduct.
Brackett School, which serves grades K-5, is located across the street from the beautiful Robbins Farm, an 11-acre park and playground with views of the Boston skyline and, on a clear day, even Boston Harbor. Because Brackett is a neighborhood school, many of our kids can walk to school in about 15 minutes or less. Walking is encouraged through the Walk on Wednesday program. We have two crossing guards near the school and others in the neighborhood who greet the children with a smile while ensuring they arrive safely.
We hope the information on these pages gives you a helpful snapshot of the Brackett School.
