The current school grounds around Brackett Elementary School in Arlington Heights are enjoyed by almost 450 students during the weekday and thousands of others in Arlington and surrounding towns after school, on weekends, and during the summer. Brackett Elementary School’s “Cricket Yard” is one of the most heavily utilized parks in Arlington, getting spill over from the extremely popular Robbins Farm Park across the street on a regular basis. Since the time the school was rebuilt 10 years ago, our student population has exceeded all elementary schools in Arlington and very little maintenance has been done to the grounds due to lack of funding and budget cuts. Soil, grass, and plantings have deteriorated, sidewalks have proven to be too narrow in many areas and serious safety issues have emerged. Please join us in our efforts to improve our school grounds and make a safer and more playable space for our students, families, neighbors, and extended community.
