Brackett School Council Meeting
November 12, 2009
Attendance Present: Roly Chaput, Allen Feinstein, Nicole Feroletto, Christie Getto Young, Fern LaRocca, Nancy Rhoads, Stephanie Zerchykov
Minutes The minutes for September and October were approved unanimously.
Principal's Report
· Report Cards: This year there is a new format for all grade levels except kindergarten. The report card is standards based. This is the overall trend in education.
· Budget: Stephanie announced a community meeting – Public Visioning Session on Budget FY2011 – on December 1st, 7:00pm at Town Hall.
· ACE: Stephanie announced a meeting for parents of children in grades 3, 4, and 5 on November 18th, 7:00pm at Stratton School in the cafeteria.
Technology David Good was unable to attend today's meeting. He will be invited to come to December's meeting.
School Improvement Plan The School Improvement Plan was reviewed. Fern LaRocca moved to approve the SIP with amendments. It was approved unanimously. There is a deadline of May 25, 2010 for the next SIP. In discussing the goal of disseminating the handbook, Roly found that he had a copy of an old one. Allen will scan it and provide copies for all to review before the next meeting. In reviewing the goal of school safety, Stephanie informed us that the district received a grant to address safety. There will be training for the school leadership team in January. A lock down drill will be performed shortly thereafter.
The meeting adjourned at 4:00.
